+1: soft light and razor sharp focus is always a nice combination. (Is that a skipper butterfly?)
Thank you. The butterfly is an Acmon Blue (
Plebejus acmon).
More great shots John, in my neck of the woods (SW CT) it seems that the benevolent honeybee is a rarity and what is most often seen are the GD wasps & yellow jackets which all seem to have missile lock on me

Thank you.
Been stung by plenty of Yellow Jackets, but I hold them no ill-will ... they're just being Yellow Jackets
It's a shame on the honey bee topic. I am glad to say, that even though California may be short on water, the honeybee population thrives here. It is impossible not to find them on just about every group of wildflowers that one finds.
I normally don't photograph honeybees, but the pickings were slim on this cold day, but the light indeed was soft, and I though the "cloudlike" quality of the flowers might make for an especially-appealing image of one. There was a soft breeze, so it was tough to get a sharp image, but fortunately the bee was fairly slow in the 64° weather, and the wind died down for just long enough for me to get a productive 'click'
