Tree and Roe Deer
« on: May 21, 2016, 05:10:32 pm »

One from this evening's walk. I startled the deer, who ran up the hill. Just below the brow of the hill is a hedgerow, so I was hoping she'd turn & run across the frame, and hopefully away from the village (which is on the right). She did, and leapt perfectly, with some cloud helping to pick her out of the background sky.

No photoshop to help you get her mid-air? If so, kudos on your reflexes (or 10 f/s motor drive?). Color of the tree top and the deer's color match nicely. Good composition too.

Funny how the scenery dwarfs the deer and the deer makes the picture interesting.

That, and the fact that the deer has a perfect backdrop of that white cloud patch. Very good timing indeed.

I don't have Photoshop. :-) All done in Capture One & Nik's suite.

And thanks each for the positive comments

A fine image and I won't question the veracity of it. Luck plays a big part in a successful image. :)

Lovely, I like "animals in the wider landscape" images a lot.
Well done!

How did you cue the cloud to frame the deer? : )

Here's a mono version; whaddya think? Should I stick to the colour one, or do you think this works?

Stick with color, Bill. The colors are subtle and beautiful. They contribute to the impact of the deer.

Wonderful shot.  What if you were to try a panorama crop version?

I prefer the colour one. It's bigger, too  ;)
