Just tested 3 sync options and found that I'm getting the same performance (in this pretty limited test) between the PW+ and the PW+3 in F mode.
I rigged up a Grafit A4plus pack with a Pulso G head and ran it at 3 different flash duration speeds and compared the PW+ and the PW+3 in F mode. Found that the +3 gave me a very slight edge, but nothing drastic. I ran a hard line for comparison in the first test as well. The numbers are just the average RGB numbers at a cross point in the center of the image using the grid in C1pro.
I knew I'd get clipping on the first scenario as it's a longer flash duration than the faster shutter speeds, but I was curious as to how much of a clip it would be.
I was hoping I'd get no clip in the 2nd scenario (as advertised I shouldn't but wanted to test) and was pleased to find out I basically didn't get any. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my 13 year old PW+ kit did just as well as the newer PW+3 here.
I wanted to find one more speed right in the middle and closer to just above the fasted shutter speed to see how much clip I'd get (if any ideally) and found that I DID get some but about the same in each kit (with a slight edge going to the newer PW+3 in F mode).
I did do one other scenario in the first set up (slow flash duration 1/575) where I had the PW+3 in normal mode (not fast) and found it actually was worse than the old PW+. I didn't include those numbers in this chart as I had actually ran that scenario by mistake and didn't think it was relevant to the test.
