Lens Correction Profile Question

I am going to buy a Sony a6300 Camera (which has an APS-C sized sensor) and I will use it with some FE/full frame lenses (eg. a Sony 55mm f/1.8 and a Zeiss Loxia 35mm).

Do the lens correction profiles in Camera Raw/Photoshop CS6 adjust the correction for the size of the sensor?

I am planning to shoot some images of a brick wall to check this out, and maybe create my own profiles, but in any case I would like to know how the adjustment is applied.

I would like to try making my own profiles, can anyone who has used Adobe's Profile Creator offer some advice? Does the Profile Creator do a better job at correcting the geometry, than you can do by making the adjustments manually and saving them as an action? What about corrections for chromatic aberration?

I bought a Sony RX10 a few months ago for my wife to use. My first non-Canon piece of gear.

Two things I discovered:

1. Sony adds a lens correction profile to the raw file in camera. Adobe Camera Raw honors that profile and tells you about it in a footnote under the ACR Profile tab. Pretty good profile, too. I had to run a raw file through DCraw to get an un-corrected version to compare. The RX10 is a fixed lens camera, so the profile is probably easy to add in-camera. I have no idea if the a6300 with removable lenses will do it. You could download some a6300 raws from Imaging Resources to see if they have embedded profiles.

Lens profiles will definitely be better for more complex distortion as trying to manually correct that is hard.  As they work on RAW data I would think they are better in general as they are applied before rendering to a bitmap image.

Read the lens profile creator instructions.  It should help you with your questions.

Yes, the profiles will correct for the appropriate sensor size used.
I found that making lens profiles is quite involved and a very precise/delicate operation. The manual should tell you everything you need. But my conclusion was that as long as there is an existing profile available it's not worth the time and effort to create one.

I concur.  The outlay in resources (the targets) and the time and attention to detailed workflow is probably not worth it, unless your lens has very specific corrections you deem worthwhile.  You can also check to see if your camera/lens combination has been profiled by DXO.

That being said, I sort of had fun profiling my Canon 15mm fisheye before there was a profile for it.  Well, maybe not "fun" - but it was a good learning exercise.
