There is a patent for a hybrid viewfinder by Canon: possibility to switch between OVF and EVF:
http://www.canonrumors.com/patent-hybrid-viewfinder/I like the idea. I work with the camera on the tripod most of the time. I prefer the optical finder for composition. But for exact focusing EVF can be helpful: 1. Focusing with liveview on the lcd can be difficult in bright light. 2. Sometimes I want to go back as far as possible in interiors for better framing. But often I already have the back against a wall and my eyes can't focus the lcd any more because it is too close.
What do you think? Would such a switchable viewfinder be a good thing or does it make a camera overly complicated? Will it make it into a real camera?
