Question about Sekonic C-700 color meter
« on: March 16, 2016, 08:23:29 pm »

Team,

One beginner question whose answer I could not find in the manual. ;)

When measuring a light source with the Sekonic C-700 to determine what color filter needs to be applied to a light to correct it relative to ambiance, there are cases where 2 color filters are listed in the LBf field.

For example, for Rosco Cinegel filters, pointing to a tungsten light with an ambiance set at 5000k will display:
R3203 3/4 CTB
R3206 1/3 CTB

Does it mean that either of them is fine (meaning that anywhere between 1/3 and 3/4 is fine), or that both should be applied together on top of each others (meaning that 13/12 is needed, or more than a full blue)?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Bernard

R3203 3/4 CTB
R3206 1/3 CTB

both, sum mired = https://www.rosco.com/filters/cinegel.cfm?menuReturn=quickFilmTV&CategoryID=1     &      http://www.leefilters.com/lighting/mired-shift-calculator.html

the strongest R3203 (from your example) is "Mired Shift -100 Boosts 3200K sources to 4700K. "... if your light is a regular household tungsten bulb (which can't touch even 3K) then it is not enough alone.
