Black Levels turn green on paper

hi, aim using a mac pro 2010 with latest OS X, and Epson stylus pro 3880 printer. I have anew problem that occurs every time i print; the black levels on a photo look fine on my calibrated NEC PA 241w monitor, but who i print it ( in photoshop) all the black levels turn green. It kinda looks like when you select high light warning and everything turns red that is clipped. FYI, I have my printing process perfected, selecting all the right buttons and color management.

I'd suggest that you run a nozzle check - sounds like you've dropped a channel.

Unless your histogram shows a chunk of green in the shadow regions...

if it was me, I'd verify the AUTO nozzle check was OK and then I'd probably remove the printer & driver (ie. trash /Library/Printers/EPSON) and re-install.  I've never heard of the driver screwing up in that exact way but it has been known to just 'get weird'

You don't mention what you are printing from, but have you looked at the values of the 'black' areas using the Info tool in Photoshop or the RGB vaules under the histogram in Lightroom? Maybe the blacks are green. Lab in Photoshop would probably be easiest with negative a* values showing a green bias.

   What paper are you using?
   Are you printing B&W, Color or both?

had the exact same problems with my printer, several times, all of a sudden. and often, a restart of the printer, the computer, and switching the usb port solved the problem. Never understood why.

Thanks, it was the nozzle check that was causing the problem ........ I thought it was a software issue so thanks a lot!
