During my move to digital I have invested in Canon 350 and an assortment of EF-S lenses (and have never looked back) and read with dismay that there is some doubt about Canons long term commitment to the format now that 35mm sensor costs are coming down.
What are your views? Have I bought into an evolutionary deadend?

I'm on the Nikon end of things so I have a lot longer before my DX "digital" lenses are obsolete (if they ever are). But I've generally kept to the rule that large investments in expensive glass is only on full frame. But I have bought 3 DX lenses to fill in the gaps (fisheye, wide zoom, 18-200 all arounder). I had a serious distaste for DX and still would kill for a good FF Fmount camera, but I've warmed to DX. It may still have a place in my gear box even after I go FF. DX might always win when I just want to grab one camera and one lens for travel.
So I say just keep in mind the pros and cons, know the possible future risks but buy the lenses you need to make the images you want to with the cameras you have now.
