Colormunki not generating target
« on: January 28, 2016, 10:37:01 am »

Hi

I am trying to create a new profile using Colormunki (Version 1.2.1) on a Mac Pro (Ver10.11.3). The printer is an Epson 3880.

I dragged the existing version - also 1.2.1. - into the trash, emptied the trash, re-downloaded and re-installed.

After inputting the media settings etc., I press "Print" and nothing happens. The printer icon appears briefly on the menu bar and then disappears.
1. I have tried switching the printer off.
2. I have tried Restarting the computer.
3. I have tried creating a PDF - it simply exports a blank page.

I have made many profiles before, but this is a new problem. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks
Wiliam

And of course you can print in other app's?
Can you print to PDF in any other print driver?

Hi Andrew. I did both a nozzle check (via the computer and directly from the printer) and a test print from Lightroom, no problem. I will try and answer your last question re: PDF in the morning. It is late here now!

Thanks!

If the printer icon appears and then disappears quickly it sounds like a compatibility problem. I thought there was a patch xrite put out for the CM and El Capitan.

William, you have the latest update (Nov 2014).

One thing you could try is to go to ‘Print & Scan’ in the system's Control Panel.  Delete your printer from the list and then re-add it and make sure it is the default printer.  Restart the Mac.  When you are in the print dialogue make sure that your printer is selected as the one it is trying to print to.  This may help ?

Actually, the full Epson Enema is the way to go if you want a clean install:

- Delete all instances of Epson printers from System Preferences>Print & Fax.
- Then go to /Library/Printers and toss the whole Epson folder.
- Toss LFP Remote Panel (IF you are using this utility for your printer).
- Then reinstall drivers from Epson and never Apple.

When you go back to Print & Fax to add the printer, on 10.X I had to wait almost a minute before the IP version of the printer showed up, whereas the Bonjour one shows up right away. Then add the IP instance of the printer. This is for printers on a network.

Then re-install LFP Remote Panel if you use it with this printer.

The 3880 would not come down as an Apple update. Actually between Apple and Epson that problem seems to have been resolved.
If he can print out of other apps, it sounds more like an issue with CM and the OS then the print driver.

Installed the ColorMunki software (1.2.1), running OS X 10.11.3. I too have an Epson 3880, hooked up via a network. Target printed fine.

Out of Lightroom - Save as PDF, no problem.

I tried to create a profile on my Canon iPF 8400 - no target appears on the "Free Layout" page - tried printing anyway....nothing!

Colormunki/Apple problem?? (Not Epson?)

I have also followed your other instructions - deleted Epson folder, deleted Colormunki again, shut down, reinstalled, shut down after re-installing Colormunki - still nothing!

It is simply not generating the target....

OK! Suddenly it started working again!

I am pretty sure the problem was the default paper setting in System Preferences - Printers & Scanners - Default paper Size.

It worked after I changed the Paper size to A4 - it had defaulted to a roll size .... Having installed the drivers I set the default size to A3 and the target printed off to the one size, I changed the defULT TO A4 and it worked like a charm!

Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate you taking the time!

Regards
William
