Copying b/w negs
« on: January 18, 2016, 12:22:55 pm »

Hi - it's time I settled down to making digital versions of my b/w negs, both 35mm and 6x7. I have a Nikon D3 and a 60mm/2.8 micro Nikkor. I assume that what I need is a rail of some description plus an attached film holder that will hold film as flat as possible and allow for a filmstrip to be passed through it, together with some kind of bellows shade to exclude light from the front of the film holder, which would be lit from behind with heavily diffused flash. Can anyone advise on this? There seem to be various Nikon bellows etc available secondhand, but these all appear to be for use when extra extension is needed with a standard prime lens (or enlarger lens), not for use with an AF macro lens.

Thanks,
Alex

This is how I copy Negs & Trans.  http://www.pbase.com/tojo123/image/156930304

This in my old Sinar P on which I have various neg carriers  magnetically mounted to the backside of the front standard.  I can copy 35mm, slides, 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7 and 4x5 films.
