Canon IPF8400 - Photo Paper prints blurry, canvas prints fine
« on: December 14, 2015, 09:15:21 pm »

Hi Everyone,

I've had the Canon IPF8400 for about 8 months now and have only ever used it for canvas printing purposes. I tried printing on regular photo paper and the prints are blurry. Does anyone have tips or tricks for fixing this? I'm assuming it's a setting with the printer head, but I've done the realignment, the calibration, and have tried multiple settings on the computer (16 bit versus 32 bit, different paper types, etc.) but it's not working. This seems so odd to me.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Platen gap too large perhaps?

Print a nozzle check and take a close look if there's no devils:

either too big a gap as mentioned or a head on the way out (as indicated by the graphic above. small possibility that your settings are putting down waaay too much ink for the paper and it's pooling/blurring as a result.
