Hi to ex Rob G'ers
« on: April 19, 2006, 04:37:35 am »

Just a big Hi to anybody (like myself) who used to post over at Rob G's.
I think here is also a great Forum where Pros can share and contribute to Photography in General.

I shall of course miss the specific EVENT Forum but as others have pointed out Rob G's Forums started sowing the seeds of their own demise once they were beholden to the advertisers / Sponsors of the Site and in the last few months some really overhanded and heavy Moderation  led to BANNING of many respected Pros and defections of loads of others.

I'm not sure even if that Forum is re-incarnated under another guise whether it will be worth visiting.

We have to move on and this Forum certainly has many areas of photography that should satisfy our needs too. In adition I think MR always has interesting if sometimes controversial articles too.

So if you are an ex Rob G'er Welcome.

Cheers

Hi Kyle,

You can read my posts on the RG "transition" threads. I am sickened by the idea of taking millions of hours of peoples efforts and simply making it into a private possession in 10 days time. It boggles the mind!

It certainly is unsavory if it doesn't border on illegal (I'm not a lawyer and I don't have a copy of whatever we all agreed to when we signed up on that site). Still, it's shocking behavior to say the least. After posting a few thousand answers on that forum, then getting banned and treated badly, the idea that someone stupid enough to PAY for such treatment is able to access those posts makes me very pissed off!

I'd love to see someone post a comment on this practice on the new site and see how long it remains active.

I tried to look up your posts and couldn't!!

Also, "Previous Member" is the name of anyone who's is now "disparu", gone, banishe-ed, exiled, side-swiped...pick your term. Strange to say the least!

Some NEW threads say, "Access denied" then "go back".

Any way, to new things!

I'm optimistic we will do even better as a community.
