Software for positioning artwork on a gallery wall
« on: November 09, 2015, 03:56:28 pm »

Does anyone know of a reasonably-priced software package that will help me design and position a layout of framed artwork on a wall? Basically I would like to input photographs of framed artwork, along with corresponding dimensions, and then place and drag these "pictures" along a wall, whose dimensions I have also input. Being able to do this with actual color photos of the artwork, and not just scaled line drawings, is important.

Or, if not specific software, some ideas for how to do this with a common software application that is not intended specifically for this. I have 2D CAD software, but it won't allow me to import photos. I also have VISIO, but can't do it with that either.

Thanks for suggestions.

I have seen a few iPad apps that do this sort of thing. Links below. I am sure there are a few others in the app store.

Cheers,

Gary

The obvious answer is Photoshop. Even Elements would do it.
I like the idea of the apps and will research these more.

Yes, of course! Thank you for pointing this out. I just converted the photo dimensions to inches, including a long blank wall, and it works beautifully - a very satisfactory solution.
