Welcome post
« on: November 06, 2015, 05:50:50 am »

Hi everyone!
This is my second topic in this forum. I'd like to present myself with this photo. My concern is that it's not realistic or over processed.
Thank you

Welcome.
On my monitor the image looks fine.
What exactly are you concerned with?

First of all thank you for your comments!
Actually I like the photo and the composition in particular. I wanted to give the sensation of height. But I have the feeling that colours might be over saturated. And generally speaking, I don't want to give a non realistic result, but working with Photoshop/Nik collections, sometimes you don't realise you are abusing of some sliders.

IMO the image is fine. Colours not too saturated, the feeling of height well conveyed.

I also have the feeling it's slanted a bit to the left though. Don't know why, the distant sea horizon seems straight enough, perhaps the wide angle perspective.

Thank you for your welcomes!
HCS, now that you make me notice that, I wonder if the slant effect could is because of the rock in foreground and the empty space on its right. I'm just speculating, not sure.

Welcome to LuLa!

I would say your feeling seems correct. There is something about saturation and lightness that does not feel right. I wold posit that the foreground is both too saturated and too bright. Its very mass is overbearing, so it needs to be toned down a bit in order to achieve a more balanced composition. Getting it a bit darker and more muted would then create a sense of depth, which a  movement from dark to light tends to create.

As for the cliffs, I would actually slightly increase orange saturation, to better convey the later afternoon sun feeling.

For something like this -- a small picture subject to the accuracy of your monitor's calibration, nitpicks like these don't make much sense. If it were a 16 x 20 hanging on the wall, they might. Happily the composition is excellent. The diagonal made by the high ground, pointing to the semi-submerged rocks, pointing to the point of land makes the picture.
