The Devil Golf Course's Watchdog
« on: November 02, 2015, 02:48:02 pm »

The Devil's Golf Course isn't usually considered one of the top shooting locations in Death Valley. Reasons are, it is very difficult to walk into, to explore, to frame and to shoot. However, if one has the patience and the will to dedicate some time to it, one can find amazingly looking formations such as this Watchdog, hiding in the middle of the Golf Course - I imagine - to keep its secrets safe from outsiders...  :)

With the Nikon D800E and the Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G. Thank you for viewing! Best,

A unique viewpoint.
I applaud your bravery in getting down on your belly in this abrasive locale.

Exactly… and the result is outstanding, well worth some scratches and cuts!

+1.

I applaud you for wandering farther in than the five feet or so that I dared.

That terrain looks challenging - downright unworldly. Now I know where to go if I want to vacation somewhere else in the Solar system but don't have much time.

That's a really nice shot with great light.

The terrain in the Golf Course is extremely abrasive, so I didn't dare getting down on my belly: I kept squatting for the whole shoot, which had the added benefit to give my legs' muscles an extremely hard workout! I remember almost not being able to stand up...  ;D

Thank you Eric & James! I actually summed up the courage on my third visit or so... Not easy, but worth the effort in the end!  :)

Thank you very much Nancy & James! Indeed the more you get into the Golf Course the more you feel like you are leaving this planet - luckily, it is so flat that turning back you can always can see your car and with it the way back to our dimension!  :D

The last time I was there I managed to trip and I landed on my belly. I saved my face and hands, I was lucky I guess.

Nice shot, looks like a great location! I often prefer the ones that are hard to get to so I get the place to myself!
