Heading to Cape Breton island next week and will be staying in Ingonish - any recommendations for photo locations would be appreciated!

All of Cape Breton Island is a photo location, especially so the National Park. Ingonish is at the south-eastern edge of the park. It will take some driving to see the rest, but it's a pleasant  drive. When we were there, I was less interested in the east side than the rest, but we may have been tired by then. Certainly, there are more dramatic vistas on the west side and some gorgeous hiking trails. The Skyline trail leads to a good lookout, about an hour's walk each way. There may be moose and eagles if you're lucky; we weren't. You'll find park and trail info everywhere. It depends on how much free time you have. You can drive the Cabot Trail loop around the Park in a day, there are lay-bys and lookouts along the way, but it deserves more time than that.

If you're interested, there's a surviving French-speaking Acadian region around Chéticamp on the west side of the park.
