Hasselblad CFV-50c to Sell at $9995 During 4Q15
« on: September 29, 2015, 10:59:36 am »

Hasselblad-Bron will be running a promotion from October 1st through the end of the year... the CFV-50c, previously priced at $15,500 will go for $9,995.

As a three-week-old owner I couldn't be more pleased with the back.  Other than having paid $15.5K!

Highly recommended...

And the Pentax 645Z is on sale in Germany at 8500 or something like that, with a lens and VAT included. Leica also has lowered its prices, Things are improving in MF pricing.  The only company which is locked into high numbers seems to be Phase. BTW my Leica dealer commented that the current french economic climate is .... not conducive to selling the high end products. The situation in Germany looks very different.

Yup, it looks like the competition refuses to shrivel up and die.

+1.  Even the "budget" Credo 50 still costs a mind-blowing $22K...  I hope this works out well for Hasselblad!

You can get a Credo, a Cambo Actus and a Schneider 90mm XL lens together for 20k.
Hasselblad V mount only though.

True, but it is much easier to achieve critical focus with CMOS based backs offering live view on these technical cameras.

The focus slighest error and you loose most of the value of such a great lens.

Bernard

The package is for a Credo 50, not the CCD credos.

By bad, thanks! It remains 5,000 US$ more expensive than the CFV-50c if you look at the component cost of the Actus and lens. You could build the exact same kit for 15,000 US$ with the Hassy back.

They have it also at bhphoto:

Yes, it is true that the Leaf kit is more expensive than putting the same kit together with the CFV back. In the end, it is up to the user  to dcide if additional niceties such as a better screen, USB tethering, C1P workflow and (IMO) better build are worth the premium.

You forgot the whole rotate the back to a portrait orientation.  I still don't understand why Hass left that off the CFV.

Joe The reason Hasselblad left it off was the design of the 500 series cameras. You couldn't have a rotating back and still have that V system look. Same applies to the H system as it happens. I think they felt V system users could use a prism finder if they wanted verticals.

I think someone did make a digital back you could clip on in two orientations.

Well yes it can be done but you end up with an ugly back (Looks are important in that V market) plus people are going to drop the back and get dirt on the sensor.

The original Leaf backs with the Phillips chips (Volare or Cantare) had that neat rotating chip but of course the chip wasn't that big...

The modern "R" Leaf backs with FF sensors can rotate inside the back.

I believe Leaf lost that feature (for Hasselblad V and Hy6 AFi backs) with the introduction of the Credo.

There were leaf aptus models with internally rotating sensors. Leaf credos do not do this.
