Love Valley
« on: September 24, 2015, 11:58:17 am »

Whoever named Cappadocia's Love Valley definitely knew what he was doing - walking among the huge hoodoos that dot the Valley's floor, one can easily see where the name comes from. Nevertheless, these majestic rock formations are a sight to behold, and make for great compositions sculpted by the directional sunset light.

Shot in 2014 in Cappadocia with the Sigma SD1 Merrill (now long gone). Enjoy!

Certainly interesting formations and quite photogenic.

There's appears to be a yellow cast in the rocks and foliage although the sky is very blue, was that the light playing tricks?

Have you tried it in B&W? I like the image but a conversion might be worthwhile?

Good location and light. I find the shrub distracting.

Hello Paul,

I think the yellow cast is due to the fact that the rocks are yellowish in color to begin with, and the near-sunset light accented that. Best,

Hello Stamper,

I did, but didn't like it much because the formations kinda got lost in the background. Best,

Hello Paulo,

Thank you for your reply - about the shrub, I think it helps balancing the composition, but I appreciate that you might feel differently about it. Best,
