Hi,
I am experiencing a blue cast to images printed using PS CS2 Print with Preview using a Canon i990 (with latest drivers) with 3rd party paper from Jessops ( A UK company) and a custom profile I created.
All the normal nozzle checks etc have been done and I am running a recently calibrated monitor.
The blue cast is also present in PS softproof but only when I turn on simulate paper white. It is present for both Perceptual and Rel Col rendering. Interestingly the cast disappears on the softproof when I select absolute colorimetric, as long as Simulate Paper White is still selected.
If paper white simulation is is unchecked with absolute colorimetric rendering then the image has a yellow cast.
It seems that with PS I can simulate the effects of the blue cast but am unable to do this using Gretag s/w.
There seems to be a disparity between PS implementation of paper white simulation and Gretag Macbeths.
I have asked GMB about this and they blaimed optical brightners in the paper, but offered no further help.
Normal profile editing seems to involve either the LAB to printer direction or the LAB to softproof direction. I seem to need to edit both, which seems indicative of a problem somewhere else.
Anybody any suggestions ?
Thanks
Ian
