Viewfinder Fogging

Hi Scott,

Not sure which camera you are using, but both Canon and Nikon make anti-fog eyepieces that I hear work very well. They sell for about $40US.

Hi Scott,

I don't know how well they work, but I think pharmacies and opticiians sell an anti-fog spray that is safe for use on glass. You might even find something like this at your camera store.

Just a thought.

It's a beautiful misty fall morning, and I can hardly see through my viewfinder.  Is there anything anyone uses to stop this happening.

It's an E-20, so I guess I'm stuck that way.

I have seen people use everything from specially made anti-fog stuff to dish soap on plastic face shields for hockey, but I'm not sure what that might do to a viewfinder.

It's tough to prevent VF fogging in some conditions, but it's relatively easy to get rid of it, at least temporarily.

Suck, don't blow.

I'm serious.  If you draw air rapidly past the eyepiece by sucking wind with your lips really close to the finder, you can evaporate the condensation.  Blowing on it, of course, only makes it worse.

Movie cameras have electrically heated viewfinders.

regards,

Peter
