Calibration options for Windows 10 users

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and have been looking into either the Spyder5 or Colormunki, yet none of them seem to support Windows 10 (or atleast according to their websites.) I only care about calibrating my monitor. What choices do I have? Thanks.

The latest version of the software for the Colormunki or i1DisplayPro (both by XRite) supports W10.

depending on how deeply you want to get into calibrating etc, you may find the additional features of the i1DisplayPro more than worthwhile. 

The device is teh same as the Colormunki but the software is more flexible (an important feature) and around 10x faster (we believe the company slowed the software down for the Colormunki as a marketing 'tool')

Thank you for that additional info. I may go with the iDisplay. Paying for additional features would make sense. That bit about them possibly purposely slowing down the Colormunki in software is ridiculous.

Sure it is but from a marketing POV, it's somewhat understandable.  Gotta have 'product differentiation' and something to compete w/ whatever lowend thing Datacolor has.

I've used the ColorMunki Display without problem on W10.  Note that the installer is rather flawed, but works better if you run the installer program as administrator, or you can get file permission problems.   

(Not used my i1 Display Pro on W10, but the new version is supposed to be W10-friendly.)

I think it's called "product segmentation". You get a slightly inferior product (slower) for a lower price.

The alternative is that they don't offer the ColorMunki Display at all, and you have to buy the more expensive i1 Display Pro - something you can do anyway.

Where did you find it - when I go to the Download page (http://xritephoto.com/colormunki-photo) for ColorMunki all I see is the v1.1.1 dated Nov-09!

That's what you get when your marketing department cooks up a completely confusing product naming strategy.

If you have the 'Photo' unit (spectrometer unit for displays & print profiling), then yes, you're stuck w/ the v1.1.1 software
(or could use Argyll too).

All the other devices use i1Profiler series of software and that's what they're talking about w/ the 'new' software v1.6.3

I think their marketing dept is staffed by people who couldn't cut it in their software development group

Ah, maybe their marketing page is not up to date, but, their test page is. I emailed XRite support the question regarding Win10 before I take the plunge, and they replied in less than an hour -

"Comment: ColorMunki Photo is fully tested and supported on Windows 10, here is our compatibility matrix: http://xritephoto.com/windows-10-compatibilty

My Spyder 4 continues to work as before after upgrading to W10. There is a note on their website that there may be difficulties saving the profile, but these can be solved by re-installing. That wasn't necessary for me.

It is but not a big deal. The lack of support for software to do the job, the inability to upgrade to that software is what's really ridiculous. Get the Pro version if your needs are other than very simple, you'll have the software functionality at your disposal when needed. The extra speed is nice but not the reason to go big here with the purchase. No matter how great the hardware, why cripple it with software?
