Atkinson ICC Profiles for Epson 7600, 9600
« on: March 14, 2006, 06:47:50 pm »

I recently bought a great, cheap, used Epson Stylus Pro 4000. I saw on Epson's website that one can download Bill Atkinson's special ICC profiles for the Epson 7600 and 9600. Does anyone have experience with Atkinson's profiles, and are they compatible with the Epson Stylus Pro 4000?

TX.

You definitely  want to give them a shot assuming there's one for a paper you're using!

The Atkinson profiles can deliver very good results on the printers they were designed for, but the 4000 has a different print head and engine than the 7600/9600, and profiles designed for the 7600/9600 will not work well with the 4000. If Bill has any 4000-specific profiles available I would expect them to work well, but mixing apples and oranges will not deliver optimal results.

I agree with Jonathan. BA profiles are a good starting point for the 7600/9600, but they will not work well with the 4000. From memory, the canned profiles that came with the 4000 from Epson worked quite well.
