IMPORTANT for photographers

There is legislation in the US that can affect all photographers everywhere. Read about it here. If you want to keep control over your images, it would be worth contacting your member of congress or, if you are not from the US, contact one of these fellars anyway.

Actually, the proposed law isn't a bad thing. It's designed to stop works from being lost, not diminish current U.S. copyright powers. The penalties are quite harsh for trying to invoke the proposed law by intentionally obscuring or deleting any copyright information. They are also quite firm about misrepresenting efforts to contact the copyright holder. While not a great law, it isn't the evil ogre that the more reactionary opinions and blogs are making it out to be.

Protecting orphan works is a good thing. If photographers are letting their photos be published without copyright notice or credit so that they can't be found, surely that's the problem that needs to be solved, not the very useful and good orphan works bill?
