Anyone using a Sekonic L-478D and the Profiler II target?
« on: July 15, 2015, 01:45:17 pm »

Got the L-478D along with the Sekonic Profiler II card.

Been out testing it with the D800E and  D7000 and seeing a couple of curve issues. (Attached image).

The D7000 appears to have a steeper curve than the D800E in both sunlight and shade.  So I am to assume this means the D800E has more dynamic range?

Question is that these are off the JPG out of each camera's card.  So if the camera has some settings like Contrast or maybe Auto-Dynamic Range settings, then the curves may be different and I would have to leave all menu settings alone once this curve thing loads into the meter?

Would it be better to go from NEF (or RAW) > DPG > JPG for the images the software needs to generate the meter's curves? I'm thinking this may avoid any internal camera processing and subsequent software alterations of the RAW file to JPG that the Sekonic software needs.

Tia.
