hello. i've attached an image to the left is canson platine (printed about a month ago) to the right is gold fibre silk (printed minutes ago, but results are similar to months ago print on gfs). both printed from aRGB 16bit in photoshop CC (photoshop manages color) with each paper's canned website profile, perceptual intent and settings of "wide" platen and "4" paper thickness 1440dpi, "17" for ink dry between passes, rear sheet feeder on epson 3880 w/vivid magenta. (big inhale!)
you see how the gfs (right) has that dark green band that goes pretty much strait down in the greens, and the canson platine pretty much looks like it's one big patch of the same darker green all the way up towards the top?
i don't show it in the attached sRGB photo, but i also see quite a bit of difference in the light-blues/cyan/blue colors between the two. (what the heck, i've attached a second image)
so this is the type of thing (transitions from one color to another in a gradient) could be made "better" if i were to make a custom profile, yes?
the next question is, i've read that the color munki can do quite well for it's price point. but would it do well enough to change the attached images for the better? i do already have an older i1 display2 which i1 diagnostics seems to think it's working properly still for my monitor. and i've read that the spectrophotometer (color munki) is great for paper profiles, but not heard whether it does well with monitors as opposed to a colorimeter.
