Hi there, this is a really hard one for me to sell, since I think it's such a wonderful piece of equipment, and the black and white prints it makes are second to none IMO. But I'm moving to a smaller studio, and I've to get rid of equipment that isn't getting used all the time.
The story: I'd a 9880 running piezo and the motherboard on it died, and I was tired of dealing with the maintenance on the big printers, so I "downgraded" to the 3880 about a year and a half ago. It is imo, the perfect piezo printer. Really maintenance free. It literally NEVER clogs. (I also have a 3880 running color, which I'll keep). Overall this printer has seen very very little use. I bet it's done under 300 prints.
I also have some ink, a few full 350ml, a few 220mls, some 110mls part full. B/c this ink will be useless to me w/o the printer, it's part of the deal. I've a custom blend of ink, that is subtle "carbon" warmth in the shadows building up to a "warm Neutral" warmth in the highlights. It'd be easy for you to tweak this to your liking by adding or mixing ink as you go...mixing the piezo inks is underrated imo, easy and a lot of fun.
This is a matte paper set up only, but you could easily add the gloss optimizer if you like. I just think matte paper are where piezo shines.
Overall, the system is turnkey, all you need is the QTR print program.
It's located in Los Angeles. I strongly prefer not to ship. It'd also give you a chance to come kick the tires.
As for price. My thought is $1000 for the printer set up, and then an additional $400 for the inks. $1400. Maybe that's a lot for a used printer, but converting to piezo isn't cheap (or always easy), so I think it's reasonable. Plus the printer itself has seen so little use...
