Nice clouds, but the cables are horribly intrusive.

Yes about the cables. But on the positive side, you can always use those clouds as a sky in other photos ;)

And a bit of cloning also doesn't jeopardize "reality" too much either I think  :D. I think the photo is worth that effort.

Hi,

Thanks everybody, yes I also thought about the cables, but as they run nicely horizontal I thought that would be not disturbing. That is a problem which we face when taking images from a bus or train. Will try to clone them out, Thanks

I was sitting in an overland bus back from Monterrey to San Luis Potosi in Mexico. The cables where changing from time to time to one or the other side. Unfortunately on those motifs there were on that side  :(

Agree, Jeremy. Careful cloning would take them out. But then again, the photograph could be used in a series based around the idea of how the "hand of man" can ruin a good view.

Agree  :)

Now my question is

You are sitting in the bus and see this motif with cables there.

Just because of the cables ¿ would you or would you not shoot the motif ?

I agree and not trying to find an excuse but even with the cables there and forgetting the puritanism ¿ what about the reality we are living nowadays ?

Look at Europe and USA cities and street photography there and now look at cities in Mexico and the corresponding Street Photography here.

Europe and USA NO cables at all. Mexico Huge Spiderwebs of chaotic cables everywhere ...

Should we then here in Mexico make NO Street Photography ... ¿?

We have to live with what we have I would say ¿ or ? be millionaires and move away from civilization  ;D

Rainer,

We have a lot of cables here in Europe too !!

I'm very often annoyed by cables and electrical towers.

You're not alone ;) ;) ;)

Have a Nice Day.

I would shoot it anyway, just for the memory of the occasion and the nice view. Whether you clone them out or not depends on what you want to achieve with the picture. If you want to make it "pretty" you clone them away. On the other hand, as luxborealis said, the picture can also be about the "hand of man" in which case you leave them in. Just think: "The artist is always right", so follow what you feel about what you want with the picture.

That works really nicely for me. Now my attention goes immediately to the mountains and the clouds instead of to the cables.

Yes, this  much better. The cables were too bright and obvious and ruined an otherwise nice shot.

I'd have shot it immediately and worried about the cables later. You're right, of course, that cables are ubiquitous. The particular problem with this shot was that the direction of the light (I presume) made them stand out because they were white, not the usual black.

The version sans cables is a huge improvement.
