Field test of the new Canon 11-24MM F4 L super wide zoom

I've posted my review and field test of the Canpon 11-24MM L super wide zoom.

A brief summary:

Expensive at $2,995.00, to be expected given the 11MM wide view and rectilinear construction.
Heavy, over 2.5 lbs. and somewhat ungainly until mounted on the camera.
Large rubber focus and zoom rings have the right amount of drag
Snow globe front end means no standard filters.
Wonderfully sharp and mostly barrel distortion free.

As you can see from the attached photo shot at 11MM, the lens resolution and lack of barrel distortion is amazing.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick review. I picked up mine last weekend and I am amazed about the quality in regard to shrpness as well as vey vey low chromatic aberration, nearly not noticeable.

Great lens for narrow spaces in Landscape and huge buildings.

It really is stunningly good for a zoom in this range.  In fact it is better than any Canon made prime in the range and is a lot better at 24mm then Canons highly regarded 24-70 f/2.8 II
