Why do American troops have to be in Europe, Japan and Korea?

Mainly because it's damned good duty in all of these places, Alan. Makes the military more attractive, especially to guys who are young and horny.

Oookay.

So why do American troops have to be there in these countries?

I guess we’re all bit touchy about others taking our stuff.

Still, with the likes of Iran and their funding of Hezbollah, the crazies in N. Korea, and the murderous Saudis, not to mention the military industries everywhere willing to sell anything to anyone(no background check needed,) having horny soldiers in far off places might not be such a bad idea.

You don't understand, Alan. Nowadays girls are supposed to be troops -- warriors.

No comment.  I caused enough trouble.  :)

When I was 21 and young and stupid, I served in the USAF in Japan for two years.  I volunteered for that country.  Even had to extend my 4-year enlistment to go there.   I bought my first 35mm camera, a Nikon F Photomic T while there. I'll neither deny or admit to your other points.

You don't need to, Alan. I've been there.

The real problem isn’t that women don’t have the physical strength to do the job in, say, an infantry platoon under fire, or on a ship hit by a torpedo, though that can be a problem that’s deadly, even catastrophic. And the problem isn’t that women aren’t warlike enough. Anybody who’s been married knows better than that. The problem, as I pointed out in “Women in the Armed Forces and Women in Combat,” is that an effective combat unit depends on a kind of bonding between men no woman ever can be a part of; a simple statement that’s been demonstrated over and over again.

It's what matrimonial beds were made for; hence: make love not war.
