Everyone here should watch the video that you posted. It's important for anyone that has ever been involved in photojournalism or journalism to see it, and everyone else as well.

Sadly, it's no surprise that these disgusting violent attacks on the press occurred. It's what comes with a President of the United States telling his followers repeatedly for years that "the press is the enemy of the people". A free press is one of the pillars of democracy for everyone—or at least it used to be, before "fake news" became a hip catch phrase and talking point for millions of true believers in the alternate reality of Trump World.

And sadly, according to Worldometer the US Covid death toll today was just under 4000, after two 4000+ days.

Month to month death toll number comparisons based on some specific date don't mean very much in themselves. You can always pick some start and end point that show things in a worse light. But the US will probably exceed 380,000 deaths tomorrow, certainly so by Sunday, which is January 10th. It is sobering that more than 80,000 have died just since December 10th. I hope this slows down soon.

Are politicians who claim that cops are the enemy of black people responsible for attacks and assassination of police?  If we allow despicable acts of the extremes on the left and right to influence what we say, we would have to shut up completely and never say anything.

An interesting point made by a Lincoln Project leader on CNN. If the House impeaches Trump, he could actually be tried by the NEXT Senate. Just because he leaves office doesn't mean that he can't be tried, and if convicted, he would be barred from ever holding another federal office. Something worth doing, IMHO.

Conviction requires a two-thirds majority vote of the senate.  It won't happen as it didn't before.  Republicans especially wouldn't vote for it.  They'd have his ire and he'd campaign against them.  They just want him to go away right now.  His term is over.  We have to move on and address serious problems with our economy.

Twitter and Facebook are private realms. If the Prez wants to get his word out, he has plenty of avenues open to him, no one is censoring him.

Twitter and facebook are free to choose who uses their stage. As said they are private firms. In a way they are expressing their freedom of choice.
Of course their choices will be debated in other media and controlled by lawmakers.

Trumps government using 'alternative facts' is more equal to burning books.

Denying facts, even those as simple as 1+1=2; and then presenting alternative facts instead.
Imposing this fake reality repeatedly at a Presidential level with the result that many millions start to believe them. Dividing the country in two.
The examples are plenty- Let's start with denying the election result. A result that was controlled independently by all the (United) States and many courts.

The only wrong thing with closing Trump's account is that they didn't do it sooner. It's not a sign of democracy to allow spreading blatant lies.
