...  But it's being kept quiet for security reasons. Ships are particularly vulnerable since they can be out in the ocean away from support.  And there's no way to isolate the sailors from each other.

Alan ,

I didn't post this to rehash the earlier 'discussion' with yourself and Joe Kitchener, but one point that became abundently clear post-Crozier was that security and the US protective shield was never compromised. That's according to the US Naval top-brass. So we can drop that argument.

It's a good recap of the Modly Madness and a 430% increase in the space of 6 days notwithstanding the isolation and precautions taken shows just how lethal this virus could be.

The prophetic ending was something you couldn't make up, or could you ?
As always, YMMV.

Absolutely!  "Those who give up freedom for safety deserve neither," Ben Franklin.

Sorry, but I will not allow myself to loose sight of freedoms just because of hysteria.

I think the cat is already out of the bag. I saw on the news a video graphic showing how people disbursed after Spring Break  from Florida throughout the United States. Swoosh. And now the contagion is everywhere. It was based on cell phone data.

Touching how perfectly brilliant you think your old boys and their sayings to have been. And how disconnected from today's realities.

Hysteria and dying from a disease so easy to catch from the guy beside you seem to belong in different equations. There is every sound reason on Earth to take whatever measures possible to prevent dying, and that doth not hysteria make: it maketh good thinking.

This is how science and medicine work and are supposed to work. As more evidence comes in, theories, ideas, and recommendations change to match that evidence. That's the power of science, and if Fauci had stuck to the same exact advice all along I would be very suspicious.
We agree, Frank.  Wow.  Another one.

Which we allow the companies to use with our consent at the time of purchasing.  However it is not allowed by contract or law for specific information on specific persons to be handed over to the government without a warrant.

Now I know some companies dont always follow this, like Google, but Apple takes privacy very seriously.  If this happened, there would be a spike in Apple iPhone sales rather quickly.

Like giving in to Hitler?

Just saying, if Chamberlain had sought a peace treaty instead, a lot of British lives would have been saved.

Lets see, because the medical community is largely agreeing with him.

Trump was at odds with the medical community for most of this crisis. When a medical expert says something and then Trumps steps up to contradict him that's not agreement.

Remember the hydroxychloroquine that he pushed and you guys went nuts that there were some minimal restrictions to prevent it from being giving indiscriminately? Guess what's the data behind it?

Regarding the surveillance: I thought NSA already does it, it's just not common knowledge for the general public.

Jack asses who allow themselves to get sucked into a communist state because those oh so innocent politicians used an emergency to pull them there.

The way I see it now in the world, most states pulling from a "democratic" regimen towards a totalitarian one are not communist, but right wing. To give you an example close to Slobodan's heart, look at Hungary.

Jesus, you truly are terminally paranoid. I don't think you'd actually recognise a communist if he spent all day trying to convert you to his ideal. You Americans have a history of this going back decades; I guess it's become ingrained in your national psyche by now, so possibly not your direct fault.

I was writing in regards to Andrew Cuomo in that post.  Look at previous posts first and just do not assume I was only talking about Trump.

LOL Rob.  So a surveillance state is nothing to worry about.  Government will just use it for this and scrub all information off the mainframes once this is over.

Snowden showed us pretty accurately that is not how government works.  They dont just give you back your rights when they take them.

Well, you don't make it easy at all not to think you are talking about Trump, when you do it most of the times. Not as much as Alan though, I'll give you that.

Either way, I'm out for now, this a rabbit hole that's entertaining for the first 5 min but it quickly turns into a massive time wasting.

Hitler, as analogy, doesn't cut it: we are discussing disease, not a psychopath. Though I don't know...

Chamberlain and WW2 are as irrelevant to this discussion of Corinna as was Hitler. Both smilies and analogies require relevance to be, well, relevant.

Distasteful analogy, but if you must...

With your back-to-work mantra, you're the one who is proposing appeasement. You just want to lie back and let the virus rip. Where's your sense of fight?

Read my post.  I said I believe there are probably many other ships with the same problem.  And they have been taken out of combat readiness.   This would be kept under wraps for security reasons.  Which reminds me of a great story about WWII.

After Pearl Harbor, America broke the Japanese codes.  Of course the Japanese did not know.  Now The US had intercepted certain communication that indicated another major attack was planned by the Japanese.  Unfortunately, they used a substitute name for the target and not its real name.  America needed to find out what the fake name referred to.  They believe it was Midway Island but had to make sure.  So they had the US base at Midway transmit an unencrypted message to US stateside headquarters that their water system was out of service.  Sure enough, Japanese radio operators listening in picked it up and re-transmitted the news in code to Japan using the substitute name for Midway.  So now, America confirmed  Japan definitely planned to attack Midway Island and when.

The US set a trap.  When the Jap carriers attacked, America returned the attack and sank four Japanese carriers, the pride of their fleet. The Battle of Midway destroyed Japanese naval effectiveness for the rest of the war.  So news about a broken water system helped defeat the Japanese navy and win the war.

That's why naval effectiveness is kept secret even today.

You said "take whatever measures possible to prevent dying."  Well, a peace deal with Hitler would have done just that.

But thankfully the great people of Britain at the time did not care to give up their freedoms to Hitler.  I dont care to give up my freedoms just because of some virus that has a fatality rate a little higher then the flu.

Quite right: rather die any day than have been tracked!

Absolutely!

If it does get to the States, I am going back and joining the armed resistance.
