However only the people with the stinking fish get to say when the stink is too much to bear...After all, it is their stinking fish...

I personally get all that. But it can not be mandated that all must divest. That too, is a wrong.  Charity is a gift to the giver as well. Not everyone gets to know that.

Peter

Agreed.  Charity comes from the heart of the individual.  You can't put a gun up to someone's head and tell them to contribute to your favorite charity.  Actually, much wealth does go to charity because they can;t take it with them.  The hospital that I;ve been to have all sorts of wings built mainly from charitable giving.  People want to do good whether they're rich or poor.  We all have hearts.  We all have souls.  If all giving was government mandated, how would we save our souls?  :)

Not to mention, much of it is tax deductible!😛😛😛

Rob, have you missed my allegory about mice dictating how much grass should be enough for elephants? Because it seems to me it is quite fitting for what you are suggesting.

... rather do I think it makes me someone who realises that greed is ultimately self-defeating and destructive.

Exactly.

Hence the term "Late Stage Capitalism"

The Democrat party insiders are going to steal it from Bernie again.  With a billionaire.  The irony on every level is so sweet.

"Centrist Democrats Want to Stop Sanders. They’re Not Sure Who Can.
Unless a moderate favorite soon emerges, party leaders may increasingly look to Michael R. Bloomberg as a potential savior."

So the party of the little people, will turn their lives over to a billionaire to save themselves. Don;t you see the sweet irony?

In any case, he won't get my vote until I get the 8% raise he owes me.  :)

1. I don't see any irony. As long as he is a good steward of the economy, and doesn't lie as much as his predecessor, he'll do just fine. Big and little people will benefit. And fewer citizens will suffer heart attacks.

2. I can't comment on your 8% raise. To some, 8% may seem high. Maybe you deserved it, maybe even 10%, but not all the others. That's the problem with government jobs.

The irony is that the Democratic party which has accused of Republicans of political corruption will undermine the democratic process in their own party to win.  They will put a billionaire into power to represent their party's members who don;t want a billionaire to represent them.

They will approve and sanction this billionaire politician's measures when he was NYC mayor for 12 years who allowed the NYC police department to throw innocent black kids against the wall to search them for weapons in order to make black neighborhoods safe for black people all unconstitutionally.  An illegal rationale.  So the Democrat party will thumb its nose against their own members for power.  Damn their members.  What do they know or want?  Power is more important then philosophy and what's right.  So the Democrats will race to the bottom to win the prize so they can enrich themselves with money and political authority.  That's irony.  That's selling yourself out.

A Democrat attends a Trump rally in New Hampshire and leaves the  great Dem party. An interesting read about how knitting changed her.

They finally realized what I've been saying for weeks.  Pelosi and Schiff aimed at Trump and shot Biden.  The only question is, was it deliberate?

1. Hunter Biden's Ukrainian business dealing would have been found out and publicized anyway.
2. Bloomberg would have pushed Biden to the side sooner or later with or without Trump's impeachment.

Maybe, but later would have been better since it would not have given Bernie as much of an opening.  With Biden collapsing so soon, Bernie easily has the momentum to win it, and then Nixon vs McGovern will happen all over again.

Second, I doubt Bloomberg will stop him either; the left will force him to apologize for stop and frisk, castrating him before he even gets out of the gate.  If he does not do this, he has no chance of winning the primary.  But if he does, he can't run on his record of making NYC safer since stop and frisk was a major part of that.  He will then be left with pretty much nothing to run on.  He has truly been put in a Catch 22 by the woke Dems.

Even so, I still don't think that if Bloomberg plays everything right he can win.  Biden will stay in this race until after he looses in SC.  Though he is doing poorly, he still has a lot of name recognition and will suck the oxygen out the moderate lane, prevent the moderates from consolidating.  You may think this gets better after Biden drops out, but that is when Bloomberg comes in and will do the same thing.  Meanwhile, Bernie has consolidated the radical wing of the party and will continue to win pluralities, albeit not majorities.

The only hope is that both Biden and Warren drop out now and push their supporters to Amy Klobuchar so she can consolidate the moderate wing before Bloomberg comes into the race.  Even so, this is still a slim hope.  Trump had 130K people in NH come out to vote for him in an incumbent primary (largest ever in the state by an very large margin) while having a 95% approval rating in the republican party.  It was a foregone conclusion Trump would win the primary, which means there is no reason to show up and vote unless you are incredibly enthused.  Meanwhile, the Dems are struggling to get 2016 turn out numbers for a primary that is not an incumbency.

PS, an Obama endorsement of Klobuchar would be necessary as well.

Only I don't equate strong government with mice. For me, that doesn't gell at all. Elephants, on the other hand, are known for creating havoc when they roam, devouring all sorts of things that man has tried to harvest and protect. I am not suggesting shooting them or removing their tusks; I am just suggesting we limit the terrain they can occupy, and control the number of trees they can strip.

They will still be permitted to play golf on their own courses.

If you really think Bloomberg is going to save the party from complete destruction in November, check this out:

Warren skewers Bloomberg for blaming financial crisis on end of ‘redlining’

Like I have alluded to in the past, my brother is a far left wing Bernie supporter who is also a social media consultant and political writer.  He is going to town on this, like full out pitch forks in hands, ready to burn Bloomberg at the stake over this.  It is over!

Maybe if Warren had not collapsed so early, Bloomberg could have stood a chance.  But I think the biggest take away from this will be that Bloomberg waited too long to get in the game; that he should have been on the NV ballot.  And maybe he should have spent some of his ad money to attack socialism instead of just attacking Trump.

Bernie is looking more and more like he will be the nominee, and then every Dem, from Federal to local, will be put into the position to support and defend communism.  Maybe some will choose wisely and disavow Bernie; Joe Manchin is signaling that he may endorse Trump ultimately.  However I think most will go down with the ship.

Oh yeah, don't forget, 2021 is a redistricting year.  This is why I keep on saying Bernie will not only loose, but completely destroy the party.  The Dems wont recover until at least 2031, after the next census.

I also think that Bloomberg waited too long, but there is still a lot of time for voters to make up their mind.
Impossible to make predictions at this time. We'll have a much better picture in 2 weeks, after the Super Tuesday.
