Finding Library In Mac Yosemite 10.10?
« on: November 08, 2014, 07:38:46 am »

I've just upgraded my computer to a Mac Pro that's running Yosemite OS 10.10.

I'm struggling to load ICC profiles because I can't find the Library/Color Sync folders. The finder doesn't show the Mac hard drive at all, and a search for Library or Color Sync isn't turning anything up.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've found the Mac Hard Drive in the finder, but my problem now is a surfeit rather than a deficit of colorsync folders!

There's,

Macintosh HD/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Profiles/Recommended

Macintosh HD/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Recommended

Macintosh HD/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles

To add to the puzzle when I go to print from Photoshop I see there are a full suite of Epson icc profiles that were presumably loaded when I installed the latest Epson 3880 driver, but I can't find these particular Epson icc profiles in any of the colorsync folders detailed above.

Does anyone know where exactly I should install icc profiles in order to have them available for Photoshop and Lightroom printing on my Epson 3880?

Thanks!

Your Epson profiles are in a package and shouldn’t be moved. Here’s the path: Macintosh HD/Library/Printers/InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles. If you right click the container you can view the contents. The profiles are in the Resources folder in Contents

If you have additional profiles for non Epson papers they will go here: user/library/ColorSync/Profiles

They will then be viewable in Lightroom and you can tick the ones you want to see.

Hope this helps.

Some of the colorsync profiles may be located in the hidden library file for your user account.
Hold down the option key as you access the GO tab in the Finder menu. This will reveal the hidden library file.

The reason for putting non standard profiles in the user Library rather than the System Library is that if you do a system restore you will still have them.

When you're in finder, click on the "GO" menu at the top of the screen, it brings up a list of locations. If you then press the option key, the shortcut to library is displayed.

One last trick. With Yosemite, if you open your home folder in the Finder and you get info (CMD + I   or  File > Get Info) the info window has an option to make the Library folder visible (see attached screenshot).

Good tip, but that's View->Show View Options (Cmd-J), not File->Get Info (Cmd-J).

You can always locate any ICC profile anywhere on your Mac using the ColorSync Utility.

Correct, I don't know where my brain was…
