Other than our beloved LuLa, are there other discussion forums dedicated to, or partially dedicated to, photographic printing? I'm interested in learning more. Thanks.

It would be inappropriate to discuss other forums here, in my opinion.

Google is your friend.

I don't think that it is inappropriate at all, but I don't know of any fora that exist. There are all sorts of fora covering printers, specific software like QTR etc but I don't know of any that are all about printing.

Yeah try DPReview (and then come back here).
There are some mail lists depending on your printer brand such as the Epson Large Format Group, but there really isn't a whole forum dedicated to printing that I'm aware of.

But based on your post count, it doesn't seem like you've really scratched the surface here...what exactly do you want to learn?

There are excellent video tutorials here such as Camera to Print & Screen and a good book on printing, The Digital Print. Note, I'm involved with both so I might be bias :~)

Even the LFP manufacturers consider the LuLa Printing forum as the most important and representative, I think it's unique and one of a kind place for LFP aficionados.

It's a actually a little bit sad - I believe it shows that we - LF printers - are a kind of paper dinosaurs, just about to extinct... But it doesn't mean we can't have a really good fun while we're disappearing... ;)

+1 to that, LuLa is the best place for printing info on the web by a long way, and the same goes for colour management.

Jeff's comment on DPReview cracked me up...  I don't think you'll find a better printing forum anywhere.  The range of experience among the members here, and their willingness to help isn't matched anywhere else.

I don't think it's inappropriate to ask, agree with the DP review comment too. I hung out there for a number of years but it's really a joke. Pretty darn difficult to find a site a fraction as good as we have here.

This site is still the fastest loading, easy to navigate (because it gets out of the way), best and fastest at uploading images within the thread with the easiest and most robust reply interface over ANY and all sites on the web.

I really mean that coming from someone who has been online over ten years conducting numerous searches over a wide range of subjects, not just photography and printing which I haven't found a need since I only print 8x10 glossies off my "All In One".

But if you ever want to know how to deconstruct and hack an expensive wide format printer due to some manufacturing design screw up, there is what seems a thousand page LuLa Printer Forum thread somewhere here on how to do it.

Google some photo printing related subjects/problems and check the ranking of LuLa in the hits.

Au contraire. I believe that, with screens replacing paper everywhere, a good print will have a lot more value in the future. And a good printmaker, too.

LuLa is the best I have seen for ink printing.  If you were doing wet (film/paper) processing, then there are two others,
the LF forum and apug.

Prints are here to stay.  They don't require electricity to be viewed.

I very much agree that LuLa offers the best, most informative and politest forum I have come across. The Camera to Print video and Jeff Schewe's 'The Digital Negative' are excellent resources.

Another website, though not a forum is Keith Cooper's Northlight Images. As well as a commercial photographer Keith writes a blog and reviews printers, papers and colour management.
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/articles.php
The site is very busy visually but worth a few minutes looking through for specific areas of interest.

For the OP the links page offers hours of distraction for photo printing in all its guises.
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/links.html

As with all things in life finding a web site / forum that you like and feel you can trust and be comfortable with can be a matter of taste. I find dipping into pages of links from a trusted source generally takes me in the right direction.

Happy reading.

Thanks guys! LuLa is by far my favorite photo forum...I visit daily. But as I'm new to printing, I thought I'd ask about other forums. Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, DPreview is not my favorite place.

Ummm, the power went out yesterday during a storm. The prints on my walls could barely be seen. To truly appreciate a print, it needs the right lighting on it...so yes prints also depend on electricity.

I hope you are right, I've just invested a lot of money on printmaking and its future....!  :)

In 2004, before I had my first wide format printer(7600), I joined the EpsonWideFormat group at Yahoo.  Of course initially I was mostly a lurker, but eventually started to post as well.  Then in 2006 I found this website and forum and both have been a mainstay for me since then.  I do occasionally drop in at the Yahoo group, but in my opinion LuLa is the best, for various reasons.  Although I'm still mainly a lurker, I do chime in with my 2ยข worth when I feel I actually have something to add, and in some cases ask for help or ideas from the community.  So a BIG YES, this forum is my home and I check in every day to see what's new and which of the older topics has once again risen to the surface.

+1 for LuLa's Print Forum.  I've tried finding others but none compare.  The knowledgable people in this forum are second to none. Don't waste your time looking!
