Translucent vellum paper for IPF8100. anyone sucessful?
« on: August 18, 2010, 08:45:04 pm »

I'm trying to print 24x36 scrolls (seating charts) on a translucent, vellum (waxy-like) kind of paper. After months of searching, I found one called Opalux Vellum in 42in rolls at Pearl Art Supplies but it is curled up and the print heads get stuck. Cutting it in sheets seems next to impossible.

All of the papers that seem to have the consistency I want are called vellum (although not all vellums have the consistency I want, e.g. Canon vellum which seems to be for blueprints). Is there another term instead of translucent vellum I should be looking for? Has anyone had any success with this kind of project? Thank you!

HP Natural Tracing Paper, 90 gsm, prints nice on the HP Z models. It has an inkjet coating. Whether that falls in the category of "vellum"and its substitutes is something I can not judge.
There is a HP Vellum , 100% rag, that I have no experience with.

Canson uses the Opalux name for its vellum quality, 100% rage based, 180 gsm, but no mention of an inkjet coating.

Schoellershammer, Océ, Canon, have vellum qualities.
