Lens problem RZ67ProII macro
« on: October 03, 2009, 03:29:02 pm »

Hi,
Any one an idea ?

My 140mm macro RZ lens is acting up, my RZ67ProII gives me a few beeps but won't trigger.
When I change the lens it works great.

I tried to close the shutter with hand and can close and open it, when reconnecting it to the RZ it will work once and will stop again with the second attempt and the camera gives a few beeps again.

I think it's something with the aperture but would like to check if someone here knows something before I send it in for servicing.

Hi Frank,

assuming your camera has a vivid battery (almost everytime we had problems with our RZ it was the battery) it sounds as if your shutter might need repair. When our lenses were broken the shutter could always be opened and closed manualy, with a weak battery there could be lenses that worked, while an other one refused triggering. But you should check that slider, if it is in position N (the green N has to be seen). If it is in Position T the lense will react as described. This can happen very easy when it´s moved in the camera bag. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Ulf

I will check the battery first.
The lens looks good and all other lenses work fine but I can always try.

The strange thing is that after one manual open/close it does work again for one exposure.

Thanks for the tip on the battery will check that tomorrow.

hi frank,
check the cable release (put one in and out once), the contacts on the mount, and, as mentioned before, the n/t switch. if you need a good mamiya tech, I can send you the address of a great guy here at mamiya vienna/austria, if shipping is an option. (have something in mind, that you haven't got propper support at your place.

groetjes,
marcel

Thanks Marcel,
I tried everything and it's indeed the lens as it seems.
I will try a mamiya repair centre here in the Netherlands otherwise I will mail you.
