Dell 2209wa
« on: September 09, 2009, 12:30:52 pm »

I'm looking around for a new monitor, and of course I want a bargain.  Came across the Dell 2209wa when looking on Prad.de reviews.  They say it's an IPS panel and that it's excellent.  It's also about $300.  I find it hard to believe that all 3 of these things can be true.  Anyone have any experience or info to confirm or refute?
Thanks much,
Greg

TFT central claims it is an e-ips panel.  All I know about e-ips is that they are cheaper to make than regular ips panels.  If prad.de sings its praises then it should be good.

Has to be better than a TN panel.

2408 has AdobeRGB for wide gamut exiting. Usually the 08's have been higher quality than the 09's from Dell. Not sure about the 2209, have to research

2408 has been $395 recently with free shipping, plus tax in most places. Watch the deals.

Dell Small Business has the newer u2410 for $479, free shipping. Expires today - I am sure it will be on sale again next week (20% off.)

"The monitor uses an H-IPS panel, which boasts superior viewing angles and color gamut over the TN panels that are used in most LCD monitors. This panel is even superior to the UltraSharp 2408WFP, which uses a PVA panel.

1920x1200; 6ms; 1000:1; 400nits; HDMI/DVI/VGA/DisplayPort"

I have the 2209. Just got it recently and haven't used it long. It's quite nice for the money. Panel uniformity is good. Calibrates nicely according to the report from my ColorEyes puck/software. Image quality seems at least on par with my Dell 3007HC. The 2209 has better panel uniformity actually.

I generally prefer a larger and more pixel dense monitor, but I bought this for location shooting with my laptop to replace a TN monitor that I hated. It'll be perfect for my use.

I got it with a 10% discount and free shipping. Total delivered was $268.68. Great deal for an IPS screen. Very pleased so far.
