Gaining height

Does anyone know of a roof rack (for a 2008 Pontiac Vibe, but more general use would be ok) that would be strong enough for me to stand on without scratching the roof?

I occasionally shoot pics at car rallies and I need to get above the shrubbery and vegetation for some angles. I am less than tall. But the setup could also be useful at other times, e.g., getting a sight line above a fence or other obstacle.

Thanks.

I understand that it is no so much the roof rack but rather the pressure points of the sides of the car's roof (where the roof rack is attached to the car) that are important here. I would say that any Pontiac / GM mechanic should be able to help you out.

Fuggedaboudit on small cars, much less even large pickups unless they have strong suspension.  The easy solution is to strap a stepladder on top of your car and be done with it.  They're much more portable, and taller too if you choose.  If I need camera support while on a ladder,  I just clamp on a Bogen Super Clamp with a ballhead mounted.  Best news, ladders are also cheaper than roof racks.

i second the ladder - works great, cheap, etc - makes sure you lock it to the factory rack tho...
