Leaf Aptus Battery
« on: August 08, 2009, 11:20:07 am »

Does any one have the actual item number for the heavier duty (thicker) battery made by Samsung for the Leaf Aptus backs or Mamiya DL backs.
Just spinning my wheels tying to get anywhere via google.
Thank you,
Brian

Check this out as the normal is 7.4v 2350 mAh so it looks like the one you are looking for.  Good Luck

Try googling for Energizer SBL320/ 480 I've had good experience with them. They also make a decent charger.

Hey there

i have bought various third supplier batteries and have found out that its a problem with the high capacity batteries on my leaf aptus22

during the shooting it seems like that the weight of the battery is to much for the holding mechanism and there are short power outs which results in a weird behaviour of the back, it takes pictures, it also displays them but don´t save them... thats why i use the sb-160 now... i got some from an HK ebayer which are really stiff on the back, i need quite much force to get them in but now the fit like glued

no power outs anymore, i do have 4 of them now and thats enough for a quite long time...

search on ebay, don´t take the cheapest avaible and give it a try

I just did a search for sb-160 (google) and found a generic one which is about twice the size of the standard and has 3700 mAh capacity. I bought a couple of them and have had no problems with Aptus 75s. It is a clever design hanging the battery on the outside rather than trying to squeeze the battery inside the back. It means you are not restricted to a small battery.

Hi Brian.

Though not in New York, but Amsterdam
I got my batteries from this guy:
http://www.deverkoper.nl/accu/leaf/acculeaf.sbl320.html
Maybe he will ship them overseas to New York.

I only use these and don't mix them with the two 160's I got with my Aptus.
It is not a proven fact but there were some issues like the ones mentioned, eversince  I used the 320's exclusivly everything is fine.
Maybe he will ship them overseas to New York.

good luck,  Maarten

Received two SB-L320 batteries via Amazon.com. Went to a Radio Shack nearby, but they didn't have any so I gave up and ordered them via the internet and Amazon. Big surprise, I opened the box and found two of the dirtiest items I have ever purchased. They look like they have been in a warehouse that was bombed out in 1945. No attempt was made to take the dust or dirt off. They were in the original plastic forms so I cut one out and it charged fine. Haven't done any heavy use on the battery yet.
Will look out for the weight issue, hanging off the back of the Aptus.

Thanks,
