Epson 2200 Status Monitor 3 Message
« on: April 01, 2009, 05:05:53 pm »

Print dialogue box appears in print menu as follows.  Statue Monitor 3, Service Required.  Parts inside need replacement.  Contact your dealer.
Need advice on how to eliminate this nuisance as my printer is working fine.  Re-booting does not help.  The well known east end Toronto dealer from whom I purchased the 2200 and my printer consumables for many years has failed to return calls after several attempts and the best efforts of their receptionist.  Frankly, I am not impressed with the dealer, or with Epson for planting such a message.  Could find no reference on their website.

Ink pad's probably full—at least according to the internal counter.

There's no magical front-panel workaround like there is on some of Canon's desktop printers; it needs to be reset using Epson's service software (or the third-party SSC Service Utility).

Thanks for your reply.  Will take it to a nearby third-party Epson service facility.  Interesting that there appears to be no reference to such a situation occurring anywhere in Epson's documentation

I've had 5 or so 2200's and I have followed this procedure to reset them, try it.

Thanks for the link.  Looks like the timing is sensitive, but will give it a go.

The button reset sequence worked first time for me.  Am back in action finally.
Thanks.
