It looks like a back from 1998 not 2008.  Pretty ugly.

I really want to get a back for my AFDII.

Is the only improvement the buffer? Didn't they iron out the problems with the first one?

I can afford a ZDb... not a Phase One... for now.

Hi
You could look for an Aptus 22 back used. The new ZD back does have an improved buffer. I still own the ZD camera which is the same file quality hence same Dalsa sensor. At the price & the fact that you can open the ZD files in PS & Phase software is a bonus. We get great results with Raw Developer with the ZD files.
Thanks Denis

It is very interesting to read of ZDb update...

"Didn't they iron out the problems with the first one?"

Indeed that is the million dollar question. Mamiya remains silent on the issue...

I honest believe it would be great if they did fix [a href=\"http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22698&hl=]http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index....topic=22698&hl=[/url] and told us so, and if someone showed that they did fix it. Do bear in mind the problem I posted was different from the purple blotches Frank Doorhof had. The problem he had was apparant fixed.

Reading different forums seem it was not only I who sold my ZD at loss within a rather short time...

If they made the ZDb problem free it will be a great product... if with problems still... opposite. There are refurbished and used digital backs available for not much more in price. The other month PhaseOne in Hong Kong was selling refurbished P45 with new AFDIII for not much more than I paid for my Aptus 65 as new earlier this year. Shop around with agents in your area

Anders

In the past two weeks, I think 3 Aptus 22 backs sold for a range from $7300-8000. That's very close to the price of the ZD back and the Aptus 22 is a very nice back. It has been great for me, no buffer, good screen, great on screen settings, 1:1 zoom, Leaf Capture 11 is solid now, and a whole lot more. I wouldn't put money into a ZD back because the resale value is poor in a short period of time.

We bought a used Aptus 22 as well, and have been extremely happy. I second the comments that John has made about the Aptus - it is rock solid and the files are superb.

I meant to make note that those backs sold on ebay.

In Canada the ZD back went up from $6.999 to $8.200... so better go with something else.

Anyone have an update on the price? I have an AFDII and really want to get a digiback for it. Anything over $7000 is out of my price range at the moment.... if it is less expensive, I am seriously interested.

keep in mind bigger files, more storage, slows workflow a bit/new workflow, can tax your current computer, does the software run on your laptop, etc, etc...theres so much more than just the back...

in my mind you'd be better off waiting to have $8-9k then spend $7k and have a $2k slush fund for what pops up.

just a thought.

PS - I dont shoot leaf regularly, but that those prices, you'd be silly to get a ZD.
