Hi Jeremy,
What integration are you referring to? I haven't really noticed any loss in that area, but I may not be using the full functionality of LR2. I generally open a copy of the CR2 as a TIF file with LR adjustments, and that hasn't changed.

I convert to DNG when importing to LR. If you do that (and I'd rather avoid repetition of the lengthy discussions about whether it's a good idea), then
- open in PS opens the DNG directly, without the intervening step of writing a TIFF ("edit as a copy without LR adjustments" doesn't seem to be an option, but I confess I've never really understood what it's for)
- open in PS as a smart object works nicely
- merge to panorama in PS sends the selected files directly to PS's stitcher
There are also "merge to HDR in PS" and "open as layers in PS", which I've not used. All these options are under "edit in" in the Photo menu of LR. It may be that if you put CR2s into LR, you still have to jump through the hoop of writing a TIFF to send to PS: I've not tried it.
