My Epson 4880 hangs on startup ! (nozzlecheck)

My Epson SP 4880 hangs in the initial nozzle check forever -just hung up!
I´ve been chatting with epson support for  many ours - no result yet, (they told me they would make a case of it, whatever THAT means...)

i have re-inst. the driver(the newest) , taken out the USB & power- plug and waited 30 min. changed usb cable,
restarted my mac - run disk warrior&disk utillity and whatnot...
nothing helps!
 (By the way,can i bypass this nozzle check?)
ANY kind help is more than apreiciated, thanks in advance!

Can you explain what happens after power on, what does the panel say?

Start up without the USB in.
Are there any sounds from the printer?
Does the status monitor work? If it does have you tried re-flashing the firmware using LFP Panel tool.
Have you checked inside for anything that shouldn't be there?
Is the printer modified in any way?

I have an epson 4000 which, after a move and a driver update started printing the nozzle check pattern on startup and before each print.  It was driving me nuts and I found an AUTO setting on the front panel for the nozzle check that had been enabled.  If the 4880 and 4000 share a common setup you might be able to turn it off there.

I never had any hangups though.

Fixed the issue by taking out the paper-roll & put it in again.......strange,
but now it prints like a dream!
