Will HP introduce a 17inch printer with sheet feed
« on: November 27, 2007, 03:34:31 am »

Hi,
I haven't been following any rumor sites.... was going to buy the z3100 put it off while reading all the poop here. I have the b9180 and it sure does make a nice print even with just 8 inks.  I'd love it if they had one like the z3100 that had a paper tray and could feed 17x22 sheets like the epsons.  Anyone know if anything is in the works?

Thanks,
Eric

Not a clue. But I would be very interested in a B9180 style up to 1.5 mm sheet feeding 17" model that has the same calibration and 10 inks at least (gloss enhancer + extra grey added) and that will allow double sided printing with good registration and without smudging and transport marks on the paper. So something between the Z3100 an the B9180. There's a Z3100 here and no B9180 so I'm looking from another direction.

We have the 4800 Pro and I like it, but in addition to our Z3100 44" I would definitely be on board with a "Z3100-like" sheet fed 17" for sure.  Using similar profiling solution would be awesome.

I'm ticked at Epson - I'd buy a 17" Sheet-fed HP in a heartbeat out of spite at this point...

You're not the only one!  After selling my 4000 and 7600 because of endless jams, clogs, wasted ink and paper, and other frustrations, I promised myself that I would never buy another epson printer.  But reading the posts here, I guess all the printers have their issues.

While I enjoyed the idea that my epson 4000 had a paper tray, it was not exactly useful since everytime I sent it a que of prints, it would mess up or stop on the 3rd page or so for one dumb reason or another.

I have been so pleased with the b9180 in that regard.  I really prefer to print on flat sheets rather than rolls and would buy a big brother to the 9180 in a heartbeat.  HP are you listening?

Wow, I was just thinking this the other day when I was trying to print out a photobook I'm working on. It's a pain to do it on my z3100 44", would love to be able to use 17x22 sheets using a similarly profiled printer.
