MacBook Pro 128 garphics card or 256
« on: June 05, 2007, 10:46:23 pm »

I'm in the market for a new laptop and am not sure if I need to faster graphics card. Mostly I'll be running LR, cs3, Leaf capture and C1. Is the processor and Graphics card worth paying the extra?

There aren't any graphics cards or graphics options for a MacBook Pro.

Do you mean a Mac Pro?

The applications you mention put little load on the graphics processor and a basic card does fine. If you want to run video games or run Aperture, an upgrade on the Mac Pro gives better performance.

Yeah sorry I was trying to type the post before I had to leave for a job.

What I meant was is the graphics card alone enough reason to spend the extra cash on a 2.4ghz 256Mb vram 15" macbook pro over a 2.2ghz 128Mb vram 15" macbook pro. Sure the extra .2ghz proc would be nice but my thinking is that if i spec out the ram in the 2.2 for around the same money and the 2.4 as stock I'll be better off. I do like to run a 21" eizo lcd when I can. Is aperture going to have a big hit on the graphics card, at the moment I dont run it but I'd like to future proof this thing alittle.

Aperture does make heavy use of the graphics processor. There is a forum for Aperture, why not ask there?
