There is a press release on the German Mamiya website stating the availability and pricing of the ZD back.

Price: ca. 7700 excluding tax

May 2007 in a Mamiya shop near you?!

Sounds interesting or at leat finally the ZD back makes it to the market...

I think so! Would be directly comparable to the Canon Eos 1ds MKII pricewise.

And the 12 bit rather turn me off...

US price can not be derived from EU price like that (if that was your goal). EU has a lot more taxes on cameras (and everything else) than the US does. But camera manufacturers sell cameras for wildly varying prices to compensate for or capitalize on that. For example, Canon 5D costs about $3000 (tax free) in the US, €2300 (tax-inclusive) in EU - this is very close to the exchange rate. On the other hand, 1DmII is $7000, but a crazy €6900. Converted from USD to EUR, that "should" be €5200. Go figure.

This is why I bought my 30D in the US, as even when imported and paying the taxes it's considerably cheaper than buying it in Europe. "Benefits" of living in socialist Europe.

So, making any assumptions on the USD price of the ZD based on the EUR price is largely a guess.

But nevertheless it rather gives a idea where we at, at leat in europe...

and you don't find any european dealer who posts real world prices on the web, for MFDBs.

Yeah, and you pay over €1000 to further fatten the government over that €5500, whereas sales taxes in the US are generally well below 10%, and a few states have no sales tax at all.

$9500.00 USD isn't bad. Now if Iridient Raw Processor can develope a tethered software for the ZD that would be amazing.They are working on one for Leaf & maby Canon?

So what, if you're a pro the Umsatzsteuer ain't importand to you anyway. You pay it and get it back a month later/ counter measure it with the tax you took from your clients. Don't get your point???

You should be able to get around this by organizing the pickup yourself. In other words, if the item is paid for and a courier picks it up, the seller has no business knowing where it's going.

You could also use a local intermediary.

But in the end, lets say you buy it in Germany it will be 500 € more, but you get the 1year "no problem whatsoever" guarantee and 2 more years of the European Community empowered customer guarantee. This is no upgrade path, but still, not too bad, even for you in Tallin it would make sence....I mean to buy in Germany...Berlin is a short flights notice...

Of course everyone has to use their own judgment on whether an import is worth the trouble.

I have no interested in the ZD back myself. I have an eMotion22 already.

I'm not German nor a pro. The point is that the tax-free price is not applicable to many shooters, therefore it is often cheaper to import camera equipment from the US and elsewhere.

Okay okay, just wanted to post the recomended price of the ZD back, in Germany, and availibility.

Everybody can pay taxes or not, buy what he likes or not, where ver he wants or has to. Peace
