Hasselblad H3D - 31 vs 39
« on: March 03, 2007, 08:14:08 pm »

Hi all

Have any of you had the opportunity to compare the Hassy H3D 31 and 39 megapixel backs side by side.

while the 31 megapixel sensor is cropped, there are additional differences.  It sounds as though the internal software is different as well as the iso ranges.  31- 100-800 and 39-50 to 400.

So first what are the differences in image quality, resolution, detail etc.?
Second, Is there a noticeable difference in the noise at iso 50 vs 100?
Are the images are iso 400 and 800 on the respective backs useable?

Not many of H3D 31 and 39mp yet for side by side, but there will
be plenty by July.

I know H3D 39 is very promising. Ask Steve from PPR Digital for his opinion, I know he  is working on some before & after HC28mm images for Danijela.

I purchased my Hassy H2 system from STeve and will use him in the future as he if very helpful. He told me he has not yet compared the two but will.  I realize there is probably limited data so far.  I am just curious because unlike the leaf aptus 65 v75  these two backs are very different  at the sensor design level.

Hi Mark,

Only just saw your post.

I saw the 31 at the 'Focus' exhibition here in the UK a little while back.  On the Hasselblad stand they had a photographer shooting portraits.

After looking at it I can say that the higher ISO's are cleaner than the 39 and 22.  Certainly speed-wise it is already up to P30+ performance.

Leaving higher ISO aside, image quality would not be easy to differentiate between the 39 and 31 when they are used at their lowest ISO.

I guess if speed and ISO are important then the 31MP prob worth a look!

Well i am not sure about the difference. Unlike the leaf 65vs75, the Hassy 31 vs 39 uses different sensors.
