Prince Edward County, Ontario - shoot location advice
« on: March 22, 2016, 01:35:02 pm »

I am planning a week long shoot in Prince Edward County in Ontario this year, mid-May. It is my first trip to the area. I am looking for advice & suggestions locations to shoot, when to shoot, what shoot opportunities there might be. I thank for input from all those members that have gone to this area before me.

Sandbanks Provincial Park is good for sand dunes and beach. The beach near Consecon is also worthwhile
Look at the 'Dunes & Marshes' video in Luminous Landscape Video Journal #3 - all shot in the County

The north side of the county is great for reed-filled marshes
There are beautiful vineyards & orchards in the village of Waupoos on the S. Side
There are also rather bleak, flat rocky areas in the SW which are worthwhile in the right light
With a week to fill, you may enjoy visiting some of the wineries scattered across the County.

Don't forget that's the best time for bird sightings. Early in May the trees are not leafed out - just buds with sap that attract insects. As the birds have just crossed Lake Ontario, the are feeding and mating.

Not photography related, but several of the wineries have on-site restaurants that are usually very good. You might as well sit out the lunch hour in style. A google search will tell you which ones have on-site restaurants and on what days they are open. Also, Picton has a good selection of places to eat.
