Thanks for the comments! Kind of a lucky shot and I would have tried to frame it as part of the landscape if I had a wider lens (soon).
I find it interesting but not especially aesthetically pleasing to my eye. But interesting is good enough in this case.

For those interested in a professional perspective on photography, here is an update on that personal project I wrote about last month.

Date, time, models, MUA/stylist, props, prop stylist, assistants and grip/lighting rental has all been coordinated. See attached for an updated brief.

I will be meeting with the restaurant tomorrow to sort out the final details. Also, all of my lighting is completely mapped out; I only need to test a few gel combinations against each other and tungsten sources to finish.

Really looking forward to this one.

Tonight is the night, and it is crunch time. Packing the car, heading out to pick up the last bit of grip and rental, eating dinner and then heading to the location.

Thanks for sharing the details of your shoot, Joe. I agree with Edmund, watching it unfold is fascinating!

Question... I know you mentioned this is a personal project, but in your more conventional commercial work, do you normally get handed a pretty much completed creative brief, is that something you provide yourself after consulting with the client, or is it a back-and-forth-collaboration?

How strange this all feels, Joe.

For my part, I'd simply cart along what one guy could (then!) handle and play it entirely by ear. The very thought of 'planning' photography like that would kill it for me.

Jeff, that depends. On all of my architectural work, there is collaboration on what we will be photographing, but most of the time I shoot the image I wanted to shoot. I tend to get very excited about my images and the client kind of goes along with it.

Other times, I am handed a brief with everything already figured out.

Yes, Rob, this kind of planning is not for everyone. I did here because I had limited time, needed to move fast and efficient. Also, having it this well planned makes me more at ease. (Last night though, I was rushing due to time constraints. I had an hour less then what i thought.)

I briefly had a F-Distacon 30mm Fisheye that was good up close but couldn't get far away things in focus.
