adding copyright notice in 1D MkII N
« on: November 29, 2005, 02:13:36 pm »

Hi,

Is there a way to add a Copyright notice in the files/pictures created in Canon 1D MkII N? I mean in the camera, before they are transferred to a computer.

Thanks,
Michael.

Using the Canon software, there is an "owner's name" field that is user defined in the EXIF.  Don't know if there are enough characters to put a copyright notice, but you might try that.

Not exactly but you can only  set the onwer name in the meta tags. It will not appear on the photo but in exif comments.

As Francois notes, this will only appear in the EXIF and not visible on the image itself.

That is exactly what I wanted.
BTW, tried already changing the owner name and it works. The copyright notice appears now in the owners field in metadata. A little wierd but acceptable. Pity Canon did not provide an option to add a copyright notice in the proper field in metadata for their professional grade cameras...

Thanks for your help,
Michael.

That's probably because there is no need to do so.

You don't lose your rights by not including a copyright mark in any nation that signed the relevant Geneva convention.

This includes most of the civilized world, even  the US.

It should be sufficient that your pictures are clearly marked as your pictures. The date it was taken is already part of the other EXIF metadata.
